Gratitude for the Ungrateful

There was a time when I would seethe

Over those whom I had helped

Or given something of value—including my time

Only for them to lack gratitude

Or to take what they could and walk

when I got older I realized

That ingratitude shocked me into seeing

How blessed I was to have something to give

And that awakened my gratitude

If you have more than you need

You are already rich.
