It’s just me and my old cat
Two old men
Minding the house while Mom is gone.
No need for an alarm clock
For it is me, and not my wife
That our old beast wakes at 4:30 a.m.
But for all that,
He doesn’t make me coffee like my wife does.
He creeps me out because he watches me take a shower.
He sits on the Sunday paper
So can’t read it.
When I look at my cellphone
He meows or brings one of his toys.
But he is no help at finding where Mom keeps the dishwashing soap.
He does absolutely nothing
to help me solve the puzzles in the paper
Lacking an opposable thumb
His job is basically being adorable
And waking me up.
Come hone honey.
