The Light of Hope

Is there a place inside the heart

Where sadness never dwells

Where the pain of loss

Cannot penetrate as a poison

To kill hope?

Is there a place inside the heart

Where fear cannot break

The part of the heart where courage dwells?

Is there a place inside the heart

Where memory ceases to bring sorrow?

There is

It is like a pilot light.

It is the fingerprint where God first touched our hearts

And the memories of love’s caress gives strength.

It is where kindness grows like a seed into

A flower that banishes sadness

And love drives out fear.

The light of hope flickers

In the winds that life sends us

But it never entirely goes out

We may have to look for it,

But upon looking,

We always find.
