There are degrees of friendship.
Throughout our lives
People walk across the stage and play a role,
Then walk away.
Some walk across the stage for an hour,
Others for a decade or three..
Most friendships flower and fade,
And are beautiful in their season.
We may even forget who has walked across the stage of our lives.
But the people who count most
Are those who sit with us, next to us, throughout the performance,
While others walk on and walk off.
Because they are part of us
And not of the stage.
