Here in Texas, a common thing
Is for the house to settle and cause the foundation to crack.
The crack can ruin the integrity of the house.
The house settles, the foundation is ruined, and eventually the house can be ruined.
I have witnessed people who “settled,”
Become so weighted down and ossified in the things and pretensions that they have accrued
That, not thinking of their own foundation of values or being,
This settling cracks their foundations and eventually brings them down.
The purpose of examining one’s life is to continually monitor the foundation
Upon which we have built a life
And not allow the life to settle so much that our foundation is ruined--
Keep your foundations mended and strong.
