The Untouchable (Ambedkar)

Writer: JF BierleinJF Bierlein

Every land has its untouchables

Not Just India

Only in India, they openly call out untouchables

But we too have the disdained,

The unwanted, the despised,

Those that are deemed to be at the bottom.

Too “dirty” for our regard

Too disturbing to our gaze.

But isn’t the bottom where one builds a foundation?.

So if the bottom is weak

The foundation is weak

And if we don’t care

If we close our hearts

Our foundation will crumble

Our proud towers will fall

Let us open our eyes to those cast aside

And firm our foundations with the mortar of love

Jai Bhim.
